Camp Matters

As Camp begins to wind down for summer, and we start to hear murmurs from our campers and parents of the impending school year, it’s important to reflect on the importance of the summer camp tradition. Here’s what a few of our parents have said about the camp experience this summer:

“Camp Winnebago is not just a camp, they develop my kids with new experiences and responsibilities. They impart values all while having a great time. I always enjoy hearing about their exciting adventures. Our favorite summer camp.”

“This is our second year as a camp family (our son's second year and our daughter's first). Our kids love it and get experiences my wife and I never did as children. The counselors are second-to-none and the staff is responsive to parent feedback. I hope to be a part of the camp through my children for years to come, there is nowhere I'd rather have them for the summer, as they learn compassion for themselves and others, along with all the core values that will take them as far as they want to go further in life. I'd recommend this to anyone with children. My son is Autistic and has been included by staff and peers in all aspects of camp, that's a rare thing anywhere. A piece of my heart will always be with Camp Winnebago and it's fantastic staff.”

“This is our first year and [our daughter] loves it. Everyday she comes home with new experiences or things she [has] learned. The first day she came home she was really dirty but as her camp leader said if she comes home clean that means she didn’t have fun. LOL So, I’m here to say she has a blast. Great experience and highly recommended to all.”

Throughout our four locations, YMCA Camp Winnebago will have served nearly 900 unique campers – representing over 5,000 weeks of camp!!!

We have the opportunity to increase our capacity by 80 kids per week, representing 1,000 more weeks of summer camp in 2019, and we need your help.
From now until the end of summer camp on August 17, every dollar raised counts as $3 due to two large donors offering matching gifts.

Will you help us send 80 additional kids to camp for up to 12 weeks each summer?

Just text CampW to 71777 for all of the details.
