Kids’ Care/Exploritorium

As a service to our valued members, we offer on-site childcare for your family while enjoying our facilities. Our goal is to provide a positive experience for children in a safe and secure environment during your visit to our YMCA. We offer interesting and inviting age-appropriate activities implemented by warm, caring, and fun staff members. Limited to three hours per day. Parents MUST remain on the YMCA premises. Designed for infants through 12 years old.

*Please Note: There are financial consequences for going over the 3-hour limit or picking up children after closing times.

YMCA Children's Learning Center

The YMCA Children's Learning Center is a licensed child care and preschool program that provides full-day, year-round programing to the youngest learners in the Rockford community. The CLC provides nurturing, high-quality care for children ages 6 weeks through prekindergarten. The teachers engage families using a developmentally appropriate curriculum that provides opportunities for young children to explore and grow physically, socially, and cognitively with the goal of making sure that each individual child's needs are met and each child is ready to enter kindergarten with all the tools needed to reach their full potential.

Kids’ Time After School

YMCA Kids' Time is located at elementary schools throughout Winnebago County. Working with the Rockford, Harlem, and Pecatonica school districts, this program offers a quality childcare program that is affordable and conveniently located right at the elementary school.

In addition to providing this program in a safe, nurturing environment, parents know all activities during Kids' Time promote character development through caring, respect, honesty and responsibility. This successful program has positively influenced the lives of thousands of Rock River Valley families.

Camp Days

When school’s out, Camp is in! The YMCA of Rock River Valley provides a safe and fun environment for children when school is not in session. 
This program is for children in kindergarten through 6th grade and who are 5-12 years old. It is available from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is $20 per child per day for members and $25 for program members. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

Parents Day/Night Off

Parents' Day/Night Off is a great way for any parent to take a break and have their child in a safe, trusted, fun, and healthy environment.  We provide, fun age appropriate activities, a healthy snack and a movie. Our promise is to “wear them out” while you finish your errands, shop till you drop or just have a quiet night alone. Our trained staff is CPR and First Aid certified. Parents Day and Night Off events are held at our Puri, Northeast, and SwedishAmerican Riverfront YMCA facilities on various dates. Available for ages 2-12.




The Y’s Adventures in Learning pilot program at the SwedishAmerican Riverfront YMCA engages pre-K children aged 3-5 in age appropriate curriculum. Our educators meet high quality standards and lead your child on an adventure of learning and self-discovery. The YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility are integrated into all our activities in a safe, caring environment.
