YMCA Welcomes New Swim Team Coach

The Y welcomes Dan Vale as the new Stingrays swim team coach. Coach Dan grew up competing in summer league, club, and high school swimming in Northern California. He then went on to compete at the collegiate level for 4 years at Biola University while coaching his forming summer league team and completing an internship with Irvine Novaquatics.

After graduating with a degree in Physical Education and a minor in Biblical Studies, Coach Dan became the Lead Senior Coach with Costa Mesa Aquatics Club (CMAC) and the Head Coach of the Pacifica Christian High School swim team. Coach Dan helped develop CMAC from less than 100 year-round members to over 120 and coached the team’s first-ever Sectional qualifiers. He was also the founding coach of the team at Pacifica Christian and had a CIF-qualifier in his first season.

In his free time, Coach Dan enjoys reading, playing music, hiking, free diving, bodysurfing, and playing with his cat. He also loves anything sports-related -- especially watching and playing sports -- as he is working on his Master’s in Sport Management through the University of Texas.

Coach Dan's wife, Sophie, is from Winnebago and they moved back to the Rock River Valley to be near family. We welcome Coach Dan and are eager for his first day with the team.
