A flooded Rock River has forced the cancellation of the Head of the Rock Regatta on October 14, 2018.
In its 33-year history, the YMCA has never had to cancel the annual tradition. The regatta draws 2,000 rowers and more than 5,000 spectators to the banks of the Rock River.
Rockford has received more than 13 inches above normal rainfall. The river level is about three feet higher than last year's race day.
