Celebrate Autism Awareness Month With Us!

We are celebrating Autism Awareness Month in April with four family fun events! The Y is commited to advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in our community. We have a mission to be a place for all! Each month, we celebrate an area of DEI. Throughout the month of April, we'll be celebrating autism awareness and acceptance.

We have Autism Awareness shirts and tanks on our YMCA Swag Store for you to wear all month long. In addition, we have four activities for youth and families to get involved with this month.

Quiet Climbing Time:

Have you wanted to climb the rock wall but avoid it because the gym is too noisy? We're opening the climbing wall after hours at the SwedishAmerican Riverfront Y on Saturday, April 22nd from 6-8pm! Bring your family and enjoy climbing and using the track without the usual noises! This is not a drop-off event. Please plan to stay with your children and enjoy the fun together!

Family Crafting: Making Sensory Bottles

We're being socially responsible by using recycled materials to make beautiful, calming sensory bottles! Join us at our Puri Family YMCA on Monday, April 24th from 5-7pm. Each registered participant will make and take two sensory bottles. Adults, please plan to stay with your children and enjoy the fun together!

Drums & Dancing:

Sensory seekers, this one's for you! Let's bang drums and make lots of noise together at our SwedishAmerican Riverfront YMCA on Thurday, April 27th from 6:30-8pm. Feel free to dance and twirl to your heart's content! This is a safe space for participants of all ages to get their groove on! Grownups do need to stay with their children, as this program does not provide drop-in childcare.

Teen Takeover at the Y

Join us to play games and make some new friends at our Northeast Family YMCA on Saturday, April 29th from 2-4pm. Inclusion is our goal, so all are welcome and invited to attend!
